Model Children Library

Model Children Library (MCL) was established by the Department of Libraries in Islamabad on 12th August, 1991 with the aim to provide the standard education facilities to the new generation, the Library was occupied by Lal masjid and Jamia Hafsa students on 21-01-2007, Later on building was demolished during the operation of Lal masjid and Jamia Hafsa, the Library materials was shifted to the National Library Building, After devolution of Ministry of Education the hostel building in H-9  was allocated to Department of Libraries and in this building one hall was allocated to Model Children Library Islamabad.

Objectives of MCL

(i) To help children in development of learning skills through reading.

(ii) To educate and train the children in the effective use of books and libraries as source of information.

(iii) To provide materials to supplement and improve instructions and guidance given in educational institutes.

(iv) To help children in promotion of outside the scope of curriculum, intellectual, artistic or practical pursuits.

(v) To arrange story telling hours, debates and discussions on books read by children.

(vi) To make children informed citizen of future.

Membership of MCL

Children’s of the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi of the age of 5-15 years can become the member of model Children Library. Membership is free of cost. Membership forms are available at the reception of the Islamabad Public Library/Model Children Library H-9, near Higher Education Commission Islamabad.

MCL Timing

Monday to Friday: 8:00 A.M To 6:00 P.M (Dear Users, The library is currently closed due to maintenance work. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and cooperation.
